Micah McCumber is a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). She received her master's degree in Biostatistics from OUHSC and her BS in Mathematics from Oklahoma Christian University. Her primary research interests are in surveillance methodology. As a graduate research assistant Micah has been involved with various projects in areas of infectious disease, cancer, obesity, and health promotion sciences. Currently, Micah is the analytic graduate research assistant for the venous thromboembolism (VTE) surveillance project that aims to develop a pilot surveillance system incorporating both active and passive components to estimate the burden of VTE in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
Micah's work on the VTE surveillance system has inspired her dissertation research and her service as a World Thrombosis Day Steering Committee member.
